ESN meeting at the European Parliament to safeguard European electromechanics

Bruxelles, June 24 – In response to the growing alarm regarding the collapse of the European electromechanical sector, Mr. Franco Felisa, Representative of the ESN – Electromechanics Synergy Network, met with the Members of Parliament, Mrs Elena Donazzan and Mr. Stefano Cavedagna at the European Parliament. The meeting offered a crucial opportunity to express the concerns of the supply chain, hit by increasingly aggressive competition from Asian countries such as China and India.

Mr. Felisa outlined a detailed picture of the structural difficulties of the European SMEs in the sector, highlighting how the import of non-EU products at reduced costs is rapidly eroding internal competitiveness. With margins up to 40% lower, such pressures risk causing industrial desertification with dramatic economic and employment impacts.

During the discussion, ESN called for the adoption of protective trade policies, with swift and targeted actions to safeguard European companies and restore stability to the entire sector. The initiative strengthened the dialogue between stakeholders and institutions, reaffirming ESN’s role as a strategic voice for the protection of Europe’s industrial future.
